The last time we watched Jon Jones in the Octagon he dismantled Mauricio Rua and became the new UFC Light Heavyweight champion.
Nearly six months later Jones will finally defend his title for the first time, something that has become difficult to do in the most talent-rich division in the UFC.
Jones will face former UFC Light Heavyweight champion Quinton Jackson and Pinnacle Sports have him as a heavy (1.212*) favourite to retain his title this month.
The payout on a Rampage upset is set at (5.010*), but it’s tough to imagine a scenario that would permit that to happen.
Jones certainly looks like the wise option against the aging and uninterested Jackson.
Josh Koscheck has joined the UFC 135 fight card to replace the injured Diego Sanchez against former UFC Welterweight champ Matt Hughes.
Nate Diaz is hoping to rebound from back-to-back losses to Rory MacDonald and Dong Hyun Kim against Takanori Gomi.
Gomi was easily handled by Clay Guida last time out and needs a win to stay in the Welterweight picture. Diaz comes in as the (1.395*) favourite, while the upset payout on Gomi will be worth (3.250*).
In a Heavyweight clash, undefeated Travis Browne is heavily favoured at (1.290*) against Rob Broughton (4.010*).
Browne has put himself into the Heavyweight mix and another win should earn him a fight with a contender.
Broughton has a five-fight win streak going into this fight but will be challenged against one of the top up-and-coming fighters in the division.
This fight could be the best opportunity on the UFC 135 fight card to cash in on an upset. Broughton has very good submission skills that could cause Browne major problems if the fight ends up going to the ground. All Broughton has to do is weather Browne’s initial storm and he will have a chance to cause a major upset.

Silva and Rua Look For Win On Home Soil
The UFC 134 fight card, at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, features a Brazil vs. The World theme and marks the first time UFC has been in the Country since 1998.
Brazilian Anderson Silva fights Japan’s Yushin Okami as he looks to continue his unprecedented dominance of the middleweight division, while Mauricio Rua takes on Forrest Griffin, as he attempts to step back up the title ladder at light heavyweight.
Japan’s Yushin Okami was the last man to defeat the ‘Spider’ back in 2006. However, since that ‘loss’ Silva has reeled off a sensational 14-fight win streak.
Silva can avenge his only loss in recent memory with a victory, although fans will recall the defeat was a disqualification for an illegal upkick to Okami’s head.
Okami is a (4.560*) underdog at Pinnacle Sports against the champion and is 14-2 in his past 16 fights, including a victory over Nate Marquardt to earn this title shot. The pair of losses came against Rich Franklin and Chael Sonnen.
Mauricio Rua, meanwhile, looks to rebound from his loss to Jon Jones when he takes on Forrest Griffin, the man who choked him out back at UFC 76 in 2007.
Shogun Rua has lost three of his past six fights but seems primed to earn another title shot with a win here and another victory later in 2011. Only two of his past 13 fights have gone the distance.
